Abhijeet Gajanan Kumbhare, 20, from Jodmoha village in Yavatmal district, was pursuing a diploma in
Livestock Management and Dairy Production and had no independent source of income. His interest in
dairy entrepreneurship led him to join the Pashumitra Project implemented by Prachodhan Development
Services with CSR support from ESAF Bank.
Abhijeet received structured training in dairy entrepreneurship and animal rearing, followed by a 95-day Artificial Insemination Technician programme with institutional and field exposure. He also participated in an Entrepreneurship Development Programme on dairy products, gaining knowledge in value addition, diversification and business management.
With continued guidance, he established an Artificial Insemination Centre in his village and worked as a vaccinator at a local veterinary hospital. He later expanded into his own enterprise, Mauli Dairy Products, Nasta and Daily Needs Shop, building on the skills and practical experience gained through the intervention.
His average monthly income has since increased to around Rs.50,000, strengthening his financial independence and creating a sustainable livelihood. Abhijeet now encourages other young people to explore dairy entrepreneurship and shares his knowledge of animal care and business practices, extending the benefits of his journey beyond his own household.
