Amrapali Dere, 25, from Lohi village in Yavatmal, grew up in a financially vulnerable family dependent mainly on agriculture and daily wage labour. She had no independent income and limited opportunities to pursue a professional livelihood within her village.

Through the ESAF Pashumitra Initiative implemented by Prachodhan Development Services, Amrapali received structured training in dairy entrepreneurship and animal rearing at NDDB, followed by Artificial Insemination Technician training at BAIF. The programmes strengthened her knowledge of livestock management, breeding, animal healthcare and entrepreneurship.

She established a goat-farming unit and gained practical experience at the Government Veterinary Hospital in Lohi. After her AIT training, she began independently providing artificial insemination and livestock healthcare services in nearby villages, while also gaining professional experience as a veterinary assistant.

Today, Amrapali earns approximately ₹20,000 per month through livestock services and goat farming and serves more than 50 livestock farmers each month across 10-plus villages. Her journey reflects the potential of skills, sustained support and rural opportunity to help women build professional livelihoods and strengthen services for farming communities.
