Hayat Farmer Producer Company was formed in October 2022 in Nehrugaon, Sehore district, Madhya
Pradesh, bringing together around 500 farmers cultivating rice, maize, soybean, tur, mung, mustard,
lentil and other crops. The collective initially faced challenges in market access, business
operations and technical capacity.
Since October 2023, Prachodhan Development Services has supported Hayat FPC through capacity building, leadership development, business planning and market linkages. Training covered post-harvest management, pre-Kharif planning and climate-smart agriculture, reaching 76, 110 and 104 farmers respectively across the reported interventions.
PDS also supported the FPC’s leadership through an exposure visit to Sahyadri Farms, helping the Board and CEO learn about branding, packaging and organised market linkages. Partnerships and financial linkages with development and financial institutions further strengthened the collective’s access to technical and business resources.
A strategic tie-up with Sahyadri Farms for sweet-corn cultivation and procurement has opened a pathway into organised value chains. Hayat FPC’s journey illustrates how sustained accompaniment can help farmer collectives strengthen capabilities, improve market participation and build the confidence required for long-term, farmer-led growth.
