Payal Motiram Chaudhari from Parawa, Yavatmal, was interested in animal care and livestock management
after completing Class XII and an LMDP diploma. Her transition into a specialised technical career
took shape when she was selected for the ESAF Pashumitra Initiative implemented by Prachodhan
Development Services.
Through the programme, Payal completed training in Dairy Entrepreneurship and Animal Rearing through NDDB and advanced Artificial Insemination Technician training through BAIF. The training built practical expertise in livestock breeding, animal healthcare and artificial insemination while giving her the confidence to enter a field traditionally dominated by men.
Today, Payal serves as an Artificial Insemination Technician and primary veterinary service provider at the Grade I Veterinary Hospital in Talegaon. She provides artificial insemination and primary animal healthcare services, helping livestock owners access timely support closer to their communities.
The skills and professional opportunities gained through the programme have strengthened her financial independence, with monthly income increasing by approximately Rs.12,000–Rs.15,000. Payal’s journey demonstrates how technical training can create livelihoods while also challenging gender norms and opening new professional pathways for women in rural communities.
