From Aspirant to Rural Entrepreneur: Vaishali’s Journey Udyogmitra | Yavatmal, Maharashtra

Vaishali Aakash Dhawale, from Kalamb in Yavatmal district, aspired to run a business but lacked practical experience, financial resources and familiarity with formal business processes. Her family depended mainly on her husband’s income, which was insufficient to meet household needs.

Through the Udyogmitra Project, Vaishali received entrepreneurship guidance, business-planning support and information on financial schemes. She was supported through business registration, GST procedures and loan documentation and accessed ₹50,000 in financial assistance under ESAF Bank’s Business Development scheme.

She also received guidance in customer service, inventory management and digital payments and was connected with veterinarians, pet owners and customers to strengthen market access. With this support, she established Shri Swami Samarth Medical, a retail outlet serving veterinary, pet-care and general medical needs.

Her household income increased from approximately Rs.15,000 to Rs.55,000 per month, improving financial stability and confidence. The shop has also created one additional employment opportunity for a woman. Vaishali’s journey demonstrates how integrated entrepreneurship support, financial linkage and continued handholding can help rural women move from an aspiration to a sustainable enterprise.
